10 Bible Verses for Anxiety and Overthinking

I wanted to share bible verses that I go to when I am feeling overwhelmed, anxious, worrying and overthinking. These particular verses stick out to me personally and hopefully they will resonate with you too. If you have any to add please feel free to comment!

1. Philippians 4:6–7

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything…”

This is a reminder that God wants us to bring every concern, big or small, to Him instead of carrying the weight alone. When we choose prayer over worry, we place our trust in God’s hands and allow His peace to calm our hearts and minds.

2. 1 Peter 5:7

“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”

This verse reminds us that God deeply loves us and is concerned about every part of our lives. We can confidently give our worries to Him, knowing He cares for us and will help us through difficult times.

3. Matthew 6:34

“Don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries.”

This verse encourages us to focus on trusting God for today instead of becoming overwhelmed by worries about the future.

4. Isaiah 41:10

“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.”

I love this verse because it reminds us that God is always with us, giving us strength, comfort, and courage when we face fear or difficult situations.

5. John 14:27

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart.”

This verse reminds us that Jesus offers a lasting peace that goes beyond our circumstances and can calm our hearts even during the most difficult times.

6. Psalm 55:22

“Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you.”

This verse is important because it encourages us to trust God with our struggles, knowing that He is faithful to support, strengthen, and care for us through every situation.

7. Proverbs 3:5–6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.”

This verse teaches us to rely on God’s wisdom and guidance rather than depending solely on our own imperfect understanding.

8. 2 Timothy 1:7

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”

This verse reminds us that God prepares us to face challenges with courage, love, and self-control rather than being controlled by fear.

9. Psalm 94:19

“When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.”

This verse tells us that when we are overwhelmed by worry or uncertainty, God’s comfort can restore our hope and bring peace to our hearts.

10. Isaiah 26:3

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”

This verse teaches us that true and lasting peace comes from trusting God and keeping our focus on Him rather than on our fears and circumstances.

Many Blessings,

Lisa
