An upcoming event in this phase of my life revolves around the concept of “change”. Change has always been one of my biggest fears, often causing me to steer clear of it whenever possible. Just the thought of a possible change for me has been casting a looming shadow of fear and anxiety over me. I know deep down that not all changes carry negative connotations and I decided to challenge myself to take a look at change from more of an optimistic approach instead of allowing the fear and negativity to dictate my thoughts on it. In doing this, I recognize that, even though scary, change plays an essential role in life and I need to work on confronting change head on.
My thoughts on change:

Navigating through the currents of changes is like embarking on an uncharted journey through both the exciting and scary terrains of life. It’s a struggle that often comes from our need for comfort and familiarity. The known provides comfort, while the unknown can bring forth feelings of unease. The fear and anxiety about change can paint even the most promising opportunities in hues of uncertainty and doubt. Yet, within this fear also lies a reminder that we, as humans, are creatures of habit and we seek security in patterns and familiarity.
Change demands us to adjust our routines, our perspectives and sometimes even reevaluate our identities. Change is a process that tests our resilience, challenges our ability to adapt and uncovers our capacity for growth. Even though the struggle with change can be troubling, it can also lead us to new possibilities, expand the boundaries of our experiences and it reminds us that within that discomfort lies the potential for a positive transformation.
Overcoming this fear demands acknowledging it, embracing the uneasiness it brings and taking gradual steps towards the unknown. Just as the seasons transition, change is an inevitable part of life’s rhythm. If we approach change with a mindset of curiosity and openness, we create a space for self-discovery and growth. With each step forward, we not only reshape our circumstances but also gain a deeper understanding of our own capacity for change. In the realm of change unforeseen joys often await those who dare to venture beyond the boundaries of the familiar.
So, the questions we have to ask ourselves is are you willing to push yourself to change even though it’s scary and unfamiliar and will you choose to stay complacent or push yourself to grow? We are all very capable of change and can and will adapt to those changes, the effort that we put into adjusting to those changes is up to us.
Just the mere thought of a possible change scares me so I keep asking myself, how will I be able to make the decision to possibly follow through with an actual change if the thought alone scares me? I have to keep reminding myself of all the changes I have made in my life that have allowed me progress and discover more of who I am and what I am truly capable of.
What changes have you found yourself needing to implement in your life, changes that you didn’t believe that you were capable of making? I would love to hear about your experiences in the comments!
Many Blessings,
Lisa
